The Land Rover Series 1 was conceived shortly after the Second World War. Inspired from the Willys Jeep, Maurice Wilks, Rover’s head designer, came up with a similar concept with an emphasis on agricultural use. In 1992, Land Rover claimed that 70% of all the vehicles they had built were still in use. True or not, this Spartan vehicle proved to be extremely reliable.
