The Mustang is considered as the first “pony car” class of American automobiles. Ford’s most successful launch since the 1928 Ford Model A, the Ford Mustang was released in 1964 and has led the industry in the category from the moment it was created. The design of the Mustang, co-credited to John Najjar and Philip Clark, inspired later competitive designs such as the Chevrolet Camaro, Dodge Challenger, Toyota Celica or Pontiac Firebird among others.
